FIJI-born Aman Kalyan has been recognised in India as the first successful developer of Lehra applications that feature classical Indian music.
Mr Kalyan, the creative director and owner of Kalyan Studios, was awarded the Matra Alankar Saman award in Lucknow, India last Friday.
Speaking from Melbourne, Australia, his wife Kavita Kalyan said the achievement was a proud moment for their family.
“Aman Kalyan is the creator and director of Kalyan Studio Apps, a series of mobile phone applications which provide live music accompaniment for Indian classical musicians,” she said.
“Since its inception five years ago, the apps have become a household name and industry standard as it is the only app on the market providing real recorded loops played by highly renowned musicians around the world.
“As a result, Aman’s apps have reached new heights as he has been awarded the Matra Alankar Saman award in recognition of the international success of mobile apps and its contribution to the Indian classical arts globally.”
She said Aman was only six years old when his family migrated to Australia.
“He now resides in Melbourne and as a Fijian migrant, we should be very proud of his success as he is representing all of Fiji in the field of music.”
