A Fiji Airways flight travelling from Nadi to Singapore yesterday was diverted to Cairns following a medical emergency onboard.
In a statement, Fiji Airways confirmed that flight FJ363 made the unscheduled stop after a passenger required urgent medical attention during the journey.
“The affected guest received immediate care from crew and a doctor onboard,” the airline said.
The aircraft landed safely in Cairns, where emergency services were waiting to assist the passenger. The individual was later transferred to hospital for further treatment.
Fiji Airways said the aircraft later resumed its flight, departing Cairns at 3.45am local time.
The flight is now scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 8.21am local time.
“The safety and wellbeing of our guests and crew remains our highest priority,” the airline stated.
The national carrier also thanked passengers onboard for their understanding during the unexpected diversion.
