FIJI is now the 13th country where the Underwriting Agencies of Australia has been established and is responsible for insurance cover of powerful equipment use in the construction industry.

Global chief executive for UAA Michael Murphy says there is so much potential in Fiji.

“There’s nothing more obvious than when you come out of the airport to Suva, you can see all the road works that’s happening, tower cranes in the air, all of these powerful equipment is what we insure but more importantly, it means that the community of the Fiji Islands is having infrastructure spent to create an even better set of islands,” Mr Murphy said.

He said UAA planned to be in Fiji in the long term and wanted to invest in the local people.

“We made it very clear as we have done in every single country we’ve gone to around the world, we will only employ local people, our investment is not only an investment for us, it’s an investment in the local communities that we deal with.

“We are blessed that we have been able to lure Viggo Wesele to come and work for UAA / UAF here in Fiji and lead the charge.”
