The Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) has announced the appointment of Sharvek Naidu as its new president, following the 53rd AGM and a Special Council meeting held on June 6 this year in conjunction with FICA’s 50th Annual Congress at the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa in Nadi.

Mr Naidu, a chartered accountant in Public Practice (CPP) and partner, head of Audit & Fiji Dynamix (FDX) at KPMG, had previously served as FICA’s vice president.

In welcoming him, outgoing president Wiliki Takiveikata said: “It gives me great pleasure to introduce Sharvek Naidu as the incoming president of FICA. Sharvek is no stranger to the profession, a distinguished leader who brings a fresh perspective, vision and unwavering dedication. With his passion for innovation and progress, I am confident the institute is in capable hands as we enter our next chapter.”

The council has also confirmed the appointment of Ravinesh Singh, financial controller of Colgate-Palmolive (Fiji) Pte Ltd, as vice president and the reappointment of Shaneel Nandan – partner, assurance and tax at Ernst & Young as treasurer.

In his address, Mr Naidu expressed appreciation for the council’s trust and outlined his vision for the year ahead.

“I am deeply honoured to serve as president of FICA. Our focus over the next 12 months will be driven by our strategic plan, enhancing professional development, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, promoting the value of our profession, upholding ethics, and improving governance and operational efficiency,” he said.

He added that collaboration, innovation, and ethical leadership would underpin FICA’s efforts to remain relevant and forward-looking in a dynamic environment.

Serving alongside Mr Naidu are vice president Ravinesh Singh, treasurer Shaneel Nandan, Reshma Chand, Susie Waqanibaravi, Wiliki Takiveikata, Rajeshwar Singh, Tarlochan Singh and Mohit Raj.

The institute remains committed to fostering excellence in the accounting profession and is confident in the leadership team’s ability to guide FICA through its next phase of growth and service to its members and the broader business community.
