The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) launched a revamped version of the general election results application on Friday.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the acceptance of the results was the hallmark for a free, fair and credible general election.

“The results need to accurately reflect how people have voted,” he said.

Mr Saneem said in aligning themselves to the international guidelines, the FEO, in 2018, had developed the results app so that voters and the public would get election results in real time.

“In 2018, the app recorded 65,490-plus downloads in the Android platform and about 11,000 download in the iOS platform.”

The revamped app will feature election results for each candidate, political party and the polling venue.

“You can see the total number of votes that each party has received; you will also be able to know the results by divisions.

“You will also be able to see the difference of the votes from the last update to this update, you can also see results by individual candidates – the app will show the number of votes they have received, the percentage of the votes that the candidate has received from the party total.”

He said the public could also view the divisional breakdown of the votes received by the candidates as well as a number of votes that had changed in the divisions.

“You can also view results by polling venue meaning you can look for an individual polling venue that you may be interested in and you can see the results by candidates in each of those stations inside the venue.”

The app can now be downloaded via Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
