THE Fijian Elections Office says it is ready to conduct the next General Election “should the Writ be issued in the coming days”, declaring months of planning have placed the country’s election machinery on full standby.

Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa said the FEO had undertaken a “comprehensive review of all election activities” to ensure complete readiness, with 12,695 election officials recruited, polling venues confirmed and election materials procured.

“The FEO is prepared to conduct the upcoming general election should the Writ be issued in the coming days,” Ms Mataiciwa said.

As Fiji edges closer to the polls, the electoral roll has also grown by 14,067 voters since the 2022 General Election, while registration teams continue their outreach across Fiji and overseas to ensure “no Fijian is left behind”.

“The FEO has taken significant steps in ensuring election readiness for the next general election. Polling venues have been identified and confirmed.”

Although voter registration remains stable in most regions, Ms Mataiciwa warned the Eastern Division continued to experience declining numbers due to migration.

She urged eligible Fijians not to delay, reminding them: “Once the Writ is issued, registration will stop.

“Do not wait until the last minute.”
