Update: 7:53PM THE Fiji Electricity Authority will be carrying out repair and maintenance works at the 132kV Wailoa Substation and on the 132kV Wailoa to Nadarivatu transmission line.
In a press statement issued this afternoon, the FEA advised its customers of this operation, part of the Monasavu Hydro Electric Scheme Half Life Refurbishment program, and its plans to ensure continued supply of sufficient power to the customers.
FEA chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel said in order to carry out the repair and maintenance, their engineers would need to de-energise the 132,000 volts transmission line from Wailoa to Nadarivatu.
He said this would mean FEA would not be able to transmit electricity from the Wailoa Hydro Electric Power Station to the Western Division.
“During this time, we will rely on the Nadarivatu Hydro Electric Power Station and our Diesel Power Stations at Sigatoka, Qeleloa, Nadi, Vuda, and Rakiraki to supply electricity to our Western Division Customers from Namatakula in Sigatoka to Waimecia in Rakaraki,” Mr Patel said in a statement issued this afternoon.
FEA personnel will be carrying out the repair and maintenance works from 3am to 6pm on Sunday October 8.
Mr Patel said works were planned to be carried out on Sunday because of the low demand and minimum disruption to customers.
He advised customers in the Western Division that they may experience power supply outages in the event of a failure of any one of our generating sets in the Western Division or because of power line failure.
