Members and partners of the Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) held a talanoa session yesterday with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad to discuss community concerns and the national budget.

Held under the theme “Participation to power: Budgeting for women’s leadership and governance transformation”, the forum allowed civil society representatives to raise issues around budget implementation and challenges faced by women and communities across the country.

Participants welcomed the opportunity to speak directly with the Finance Minister on how budget allocations translate to real impact at the grassroots level.

FCOSS executive director Vani Catanasiga said they were pleased with Mr Prasad’s engagement.

“We were really happy that Mr Prasad was willing to attend and answer their questions,” she said.
