The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced a formal review of the FCCC (Control of Fares and Charges for Public Service Vehicles) Order 2023, which came into effect on 1 February 2023 and is due to expire on 31 January 2026.

The review, conducted under section 39 of the FCCC Act 2010, will assess the existing regulation of fares and charges for public service vehicles (PSVs), including taxis, minibuses, buses, and hire vehicles.

As part of the review process, the FCCC has invited written submissions from the public, industry representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.

Submissions should include comments on the FCCC’s current regulation of PSV fares and charges, as well as recommendations on whether the existing Order should be extended, amended, varied, or revoked — with appropriate justification.

Stakeholders are also encouraged to provide views on the current and future regulated fares for public transport, along with any additional information that could assist in the review.
