A DESIGNER Information session organised by the Fashion Council of Fiji in partnership with Fiji Fashion Week was held today at the Fiji Times conference room.

Former Senior Lecturer of Design & Creative Director at the Fashion Design Institute campus of Ultimo TAFE Nicholas Huxley presented at the information session and said this was a presentation for designers on what they should expect in the next three weeks.

“Basically, I am just going to be showing them an example of what they’re going to expect in the next three weeks so it’s all about basic designing, elements and principles, how to add textiles to it, how to put detailing to it,” Huxley said.

“I am going to teach them how to draw some illustration work and discuss the industry, I am going to be talking about being innovative and creative in comparison to being commercial and so it’s like a full on survival and creating a fabulous collection for fashion week.”

Huxley who was recently added into the Design Institute of Australia’s hall of fame said at the end of the three weeks, the designers who decided to carry on with the workshops would work with him in creating a 12 body collection for FJFW this year.
