The 20-member team from the Methodist Lay Training Centre (MLTC) in Davuilevu was all excited as they delivered their first performance at the 13th Festival of the Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC) at Queen Kapi’olani Regional Park at Waikiki, Hawaii yesterday.
MLTC co-ordinator Laisiasa Veikoso said his students were having the time of their lives as this was the first time for all of them to travel abroad.
“We have 18 students and two staff members who are travelling with the Fiji delegation,” Mr Veikoso said.
“They are all travelling for the first time and this is a wonderful memory for them, and everything is just an eye-opener for the whole team,” he said.
Mr Veikoso said the experience for the students in participating at the FestPAC would contribute to their personal development in participating in future regional events for the church and the institution they represent.
He said they were very lucky to have been invited to be part of the delegation to FestPAC.
“We are blessed to represent Fiji and we don’t take it lightly as it’s a very serious responsibility, especially for the students.
Mr Veikoso said the itaukei traditions were fairly new to the students and he had seen their patriotism for their country.
The MLTC team was also joined with their counterparts from Rotuma at the event in Waikiki.
