KAVA exporter and retailer Lami Kava Pte Ltd (LKPL) has Islands Nature, its new product line comprising of dehydrated instant kava powder and wellness products like turmeric, ginger and wild ginger (layalaya).
The launch took place at their head office in Lami yesterday.
LKPL general manager Edward Hoerder said Island Nature is a new chapter for the company and honours Fijian heritage by bringing the best of traditional Fijian medicine to the world.
“We’ve been in business for 40 years and are known for producing high quality kava, but today we take a step forward in expanding our offerings beyond kava, entering the wealth of natural wellness ingredients that have been part of Fiji’s generations from long ago,” Mr Hoerder said.
“Our journey begins with four products: turmeric, which is known for its inflammatory healing properties; ginger, the powerful natural remedy for digestion and immunity, and layalaya, a traditional Fijian plant infused with medicinal benefits.”
Mr Hoerder also said they were actively looking for farmers that have the required plants to be processed and that was something they would work towards through collaboration with local farmers, similar to how they grew their kava business.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Manoa Kamikamica, who officially launched the new product line, said it was an important step towards innovation, market expansion and strengthening Fiji’s reputation as a global sourcing destination for premium kava and wellness products, noting the contribution of Islands Nature to global health.
“LKPL has been a trusted name in Fiji’s kava industry, setting new standards in product quality and market access,” he said.
“The launch of these new products demonstrates the company’s vision, commitment to excellence, health and drive to create greater opportunities for our farmers and the agri-business stakeholders.
“We remain committed to strengthening Fiji’s agricultural sector, promoting export diversification, and supporting businesses that create jobs and economic value,” Mr Kamikamica said.
