THE Republic of Fiji Military Forces conducted the last stage of Exercise Bougainville 2026 near Vuda Marina and Serenity Island on Tuesday.
The major brigade-level training operation, running from August 10 to 28, has featured the frequent movement of naval vessels, water police, and armed personnel. Communities near the exercise zones were issued advance notices to prepare for simulated battle noise, including blank ammunition, pyrotechnics, and heavy explosive sound effects.
Military officials said the multi-agency deployment was crucial for evaluating national defence coordination and operational readiness throughout the scheduled two-week window.
The exercises ensure our forces maintain the highest standards of preparedness and interagency collaboration.
The comprehensive training brings together key national institutions, including the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji, the Ministry of Health, the Fiji Navy, and the Fiji Police Force. Representatives and observers from the Australian Defence Force and the New Zealand Defence Force are also participating to foster regional security partnerships.
RFMF troops marched from the Waikamu industrial area located at the Nadi Town end, through Nadi Town and concluded at King Charles Park to mark the end of Exercise Bougainville 2026.
