As night sets in and envelops the capital city of Suva this Friday, fans and supporters are expected to bring the HFC Bank Stadium to life when the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua face the Blues there, in round 13 of the Super Rugby Pacific competition.
And Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson knows the essence of such a meeting in different conditions and how it will induce a sense of enthusiasm among the many turning up to watch.
“It’s good, under lights; I know Suva, the Suva public and the Fijian public will love Friday night,” Jackson told this newspaper in a press conference yesterday.
It will be the first time the Drua play in the evening at home this season, since the last time they did so was last April when they faced the Hurricanes in Suva at 8.05pm.
The Drua lost that match 15-38, however Jackson reflected on the fixture and its timing and how it would provide a unique viewing experience for everyone turning up this time around.
“We’ve had a Friday night game before with a great crowd against the Hurricanes and I think it’s certainly an occasion that you don’t often get playing in Fiji under lights so I know the fans will love it,” he said.
With the Drua’s constant proclamation of its fans being what they regard as the world’s best, the essence of it has not been lost on the squad.
“Our boys will be doing the best to make them get tuned up and play well and hopefully get the win,” he added.
“Good opportunity to have a few post-dinner drinks and get out into the game and support it.”
Meanwhile, tickets are expected to sell out immensely due to the significance of the match as the Drua will be meeting the competition’s defending champions.
The clash kicks off at 7.05pm.
