The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has confirmed it is reviewing the case file of former Virgin Australia flight attendant Lucinta Evans.
Ms Evans was killed in a car accident while waiting at a bus stop along Martintar, Nadi, in March.
“The file is currently under review in accordance with standard ODPP procedures,” the ODPP said in a statement.
“Once the review is completed and a decision has been made, the police will be informed of our recommendations.”
Meanwhile, Ms Evans’ family has turned the tragic situation into a public awareness campaign on Fiji’s alarming rate of deaths on national roads.
The family turned to social media and launched the In Memory of Lucinta – Justice & Road Safety Facebook page where updates on Ms Evans life are shared to supporters.
A family statement to this newspaper highlighted the importance of the campaign.
“Before the conversations around accountability and awareness, it is important to us that people understand the kind of person she was — deeply loved, full of life, caring and someone who meant so much to her family, friends and community,” the statement said.
