THE Ratu Sukuna Bowl 2024, taking place next week on the 7th to the 9th, promises to be more than just a competitive showcase between the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and the Fiji Police Force.

Backed by Total Energies, this year’s event will emphasise unity, family values, and the promotion of a drug-free Fiji, reflecting a shared commitment to social impact.

During the partnership signing ceremony, Total Energies Managing Director Bhavana Samel affirmed the company’s dedication to community engagement through sport.

“Total Energies has been in Fiji for almost 18 years, we are here to stay and look forward to a long, successful relationship with Fiji,” she stated.

Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Waqanisau of the RFMF underscored the significance of this partnership.

“This sponsorship from Total is not just a financial contribution; it is a testament to our shared values and commitment to a drug-free Fiji,” he remarked.

Notably, this year’s Ratu Sukuna Bowl will be the last event held at HFC Bank Stadium before it closes for renovations ahead of the upcoming rugby seasons, adding historic significance to the occasion.

Under the theme “Strong Work Together,” the event aims to create a broader impact by addressing pressing social issues.

The RFMF is organising an open day and career expo in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, providing families the opportunity to engage with representatives from both the RFMF and the police.

Additionally, an awareness campaign will encourage family unity and youth empowerment in the fight against drugs.

With eight different sports scheduled throughout the week, the event is set to attract sports enthusiasts nationwide, inviting all to appreciate high-level competition and community spirit.

“We invite members of the wider society to come and enjoy the games,” said Waqanisau.
