A roller coaster is how fly-half Caleb Muntz described his tenure in the last four years with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua.
The outgoing player who is expected to join the French Pro D2 rugby club Provence at the end of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season, noted fluctuating moments of stellar performances on the field and sustaining injuries as examples of that.
“It’s cool. I guess the last four years, especially for me, has been a bit of a roller coaster,” Muntz stated on Saturday, after the Fijian Drua beat the Western Force 38-7 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
“A lot of injuries, a lot of kind of playing well, getting an injury then coming back, a lot of rehab and stuff.
“Even just recently coming off a shoulder injury to do it.”
With last Saturday’s match being his final appearance for the Drua at home and his final appearance for the club in the next fortnight, he reflected on how crucial and sentimental the team’s preparations were.
“Obviously, we still got another game in Queensland in a couple of weeks. All week we were just talking about it because our finals, our season was kind of over, there was a lot riding on this game, last game this game.
“We just wanted to really give our fans something to be proud of and also ourselves something proud of this season,” he said.
Their 5-34 loss to the Blues helped propel the team.
Muntz joined the Fijian Drua in 2019 and has played a total of 286 minutes, scored 20 points. He made seven conversions and two penalties since doing so.
