Government is one of our country’s biggest employers, our military or RFMF, the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Corrections Service combined employ the largest number of Fijians at any one time.
The official confirmation of Rear Admiral Commander Viliame Naupoto, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho and Commander Francis Kean to their respective leadership roles is a testimony to their academic qualifications, experience, training, hard work with good leadership qualities.
They are all home-bred and Fiji-made although they all received their professional and academic trainings offshore.
It is good to note that these locals can rise to the occasion to qualify themselves and serve their nation. Congratulations and well done.
I have in the past emphasised and I will reiterate again that any employment opportunities in our country irrespective, must be for Fijians first and expatriates.
I am very proud seeing these three Fijian nationals ascend to their respective positions.
I do hope to see the day where our country can witness the localisation of all senior executive leadership positions in the private and public sector, but vinaka to Government and the appointing authorities for your trust in these locals.
It has paved the way to motivating more young Fijian local men and women to aspire and achieve the same.
Vina du riki to their parents for the upbringing of these great Fijian men and their families.
Their individual respective tikina, koro and yasana must be very proud of their sons’ achievements.
The Minister for Education, Dr Mahendra Reddy, and his hardworking officials are taking the lead role in making Fiji a literate country, with the proper execution of all our MoE policies, improved infrastructure development, good teaching methodology from qualified teaching personnels will equate to excellent service delivery.
In no time, our Government will achieve its goal by making all future Fijians smart.
It will be achieved.
