Secretary-General to Parliament Jeanette Emberson will continue in the role for another five years following the renewal of her contract.
Parliament staff, including members of the executive management team, senior staff and executive support staff, gathered last week to congratulate Emberson on her renewed appointment.
The renewal was described as recognition of her leadership, dedication and service to the organisation, including her support for the Speaker and Members of Parliament in carrying out their parliamentary responsibilities.
Emberson said the uncertainty surrounding her future in the position had made the journey challenging.
“I’m just very thankful – this journey has not been easy for me, not knowing whether I’ll continue or not,” Emberson said.
“It’s a whole different kind of uphill battle and just relying on God to give me the strength to do my best every day.”
