Update: 4:30PM THE High Court in Labasa last week sentenced a man to eight years in prison after being found guilty of raping his step mother last year.
While handing down sentence, Justice Daniel Goundar said the punishment must reflect the court�s disapproval of the man�s conduct.
“Women have the right to dignity and freedom from any form of sexual abuse,” Justice Goundar said.
“Rape is the worst form of sexual abuse. The impact of rape is felt on both the body and soul of the victim.”
The man who was convicted of digital rape will spend five years in prison before he is eligible for parole.
