Education Act review attracts teachers, students and parents

THE consultations on the review of the Education Act of 1966 started in the Western Division last week with many taking this opportunity to air their grievances.

The attendees included teachers, students and parents.

The first consultation was held at the Ba Civic Centre on May 14, the second at Natabua High School on May 15 and the third at the Nadi’s Civic Centre on May 16.

There were two sessions held per day whereby the panel comprised of the review committee chair Rokobua Naiyaga and Legal drafters David Solvalu and Lyanne Vaurasi.

Among the issues highlighted, curriculum changes, students’ disciplinary issues, teacher to student ratio in classroom, the need for teaching aids and teacher protection policies.
