The 2026 Eastern Zone Secondary Schools Netball Rally concluded at Nasau Park in Levuka, with Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Association vice president Joshua Qalo commending the standard of competition and the collective effort that delivered another successful championship.
Qalo said the tournament produced exciting contests across all grades, particularly in the Under-15, U17 and U19 divisions.
“Leading up to the finals, it was an exciting performance by schools, particularly in the U19s, U15s and U17s, which were closely contested,” he said.
He also praised emerging schools that made their mark during the two-day competition.
“Wainibuka has shown they are going to be a team to watch at the Fiji Secondary Schools National Championships,” Qalo said.
He added that Vunimono High School (VHS) had also impressed throughout the tournament, proving they should not be overlooked heading into the national competition.
As the rally came to an end, Qalo thanked everyone who contributed behind the scenes.
“We’re thankful to the host schools, the Fiji Police Force, our umpires, scorers, stakeholders and everyone who contributed to making the Eastern Secondary Schools competition a success,” he said.
On the court, Adi Cakobau School (ACS) claimed the U14 title with a 19-9 victory over Lelean Memorial School (LMS). Wainibuka Secondary School (WBK) edged ACS 23-21 to win the U15 grade, while VHS defeated ACS 19-12 in the U17 final.
ACS bounced back to secure the U19 title after defeating Levuka Public School 35-21 before adding the Open Girls crown with a 15-9 win over WBK. VHS wrapped up the rally by edging Noco Secondary School 11-10 to claim the Open Men’s title.
Attention now turns to the Fiji Secondary Schools National Championships, where the Eastern Division’s top teams will look to build on their strong performances.
