FOUR sports will be played ahead of the 2023 Pacific Games opening ceremony in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The four include football, indoor volleyball, 5×5 basketball, and tennis.

They all start on November 17 at different venues with the opening ceremony of the games to be held two days after.

This means the first Team Fiji contingent that will depart today will comprise of athletes participating in these four sports.

The national women’s basketball 5×5 side will be the first team from Fiji to be in action in Honiara on Friday, November 17 at 3pm, beginning their campaign against Guam at Friendship Hall.

Also on Friday at 8pm at the same venue, the Fiji men’s volleyball team meets Tahiti in their first pool match.

The Fiji football men as well as the men’s basketball 5×5 teams are set to play their opening matches on Saturday, November 18.

The Digicel Bula Boys will meet Northern Marianas while the national men’s basketball battles Polynesian champions, Tahiti in a match expected to be a thriller.

The Bula Boys will play at the Solomon Islands Football Federation Academy and men’s basketball at the Friendship Hall.
