NAQALIMARE Kindergarten has received a boost to its early learning program with educational resources, books, toys and play equipment given by the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society.
The items were handed over last week by Semaima Naiqama, spouse of Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan Kemueli Naiqama and a member of the society, during a visit to the kindergarten.
Ms Naiqama said supporting children’s early development was an investment in the country’s future.
“Children are at the heart of every community, and supporting their early learning and development is an investment in our future,” she said.
“We hope these resources will bring joy to the children and be a valuable addition to their learning environment.”
She said the donation would help teachers create a more stimulating environment where children could learn through play, creativity and interaction.
Ms Naiqama acknowledged the Commissioner Western and Provincial Administrator for their support of grassroots communities in the Western Division.
She also thanked the Government and people of Japan for their continued friendship and support for Fiji.
She said the longstanding Fiji-Japan relationship continued to create meaningful people-to-people connections and opportunities for community engagement.
Ms Naiqama stressed the importance of collaboration between communities, Government representatives, organisations and individuals to ensure assistance reached those most in need, particularly children in rural areas.
The Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society promotes friendship and connections among women while supporting community initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.
The donation is expected to provide Naqalimare Kindergarten with additional resources to support children’s learning and development.
