Duo off to Australia

Two athletics Fiji officials Albert Miller and Waisiki Koroivulavou, departed for Gold Coast, Australia on Tuesday to attend an IAAF technical officials education certification level 1 lecturers course.

Miller will represent Athletics Fiji while Koroivulavou will represent the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association.

Twelve other participants from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, Singapore and Tonga will also be attending the course which is being held at Oceania Athletics House from today, April 27 to May 1.

It will be conducted by Trevor Spittle of Athletics New Zealand.

The objective of the course is to bring together experienced technical officials and developing their lecturing skills and knowledge for them to be able to deliver the IAAF TOECS level 1 officials course within their own federations.

There are 33 units in the course which covers competition rules in the running, jumping, throwing, racewalking and combined events.

Funding for the course was provided by the IAAF and Oceania Athletics.

Fiji currently has only one qualified technical officials lecturer — Vuli Waqa.
