NAVUA captain Thomas Dunn produced an inspiring performance as his side defeated neighbours Suva 2-0 in their final pool match of the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT yesterday, securing a well-deserved place in the tournament’s semi-finals.

Dunn led by example throughout the contest, controlling the midfield with composure and creativity. His accurate switch-of-play passes and dangerous runs down the flanks constantly troubled the Suva defence and played a key role in Navua’s attacking dominance.

The southerners broke the deadlock in the first half through Solomon Islands import Junior Jack. The striker reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area and calmly slotted home his first goal of the tournament, giving Navua a crucial 1-0 advantage.

Navua maintained their lead heading into halftime, while Suva faced an uphill battle after losing two key players to injury. Experienced midfielder Dave Radrigai and defender Geary Kubu were both forced off during the opening spell, disrupting Suva’s rhythm and game plan.

Despite Suva’s efforts to fight their way back into the match, Navua remained organised and disciplined. Their victory was sealed in the second half when youngster Bai Taito finished off a superbly worked team move to double the lead and put the result beyond doubt.

Following the match, captain Dunn praised his teammates for their determination and commitment.

“We knew what was required of us in this game and I thank the team for delivering against Suva. It was a tough game for us and I thank God for helping us get the win today,” he said.

Navua face Lautoka in the second semi-final at 4.30pm at Subrail Park on Saturday.
