THE McDonald’s Fiji Drua Women are set to launch their 2026 Super Rugby W campaign in Sydney, Australia where they will face defending champions the Waratahs at Leichhardt Oval.

Head coach Mike Legge says the team has shown encouraging signs through their trial matches and is confident they are on track heading into the new season.

“We’re on track,” Legge said.

“A big part for us is making sure we stick to our identity.

“We’ve got a particular game model we want to play to.

“I think it has come out in the first two games, the style of play that we want to play.

“We believe it’s that style that’s going to win us the competition. But at the same time, there’s still a lot of work to do to achieve those goals.”

Legge said consistency and execution will be key if they are to challenge the top sides this season.

As the Drua prepare for a tough opening clash against the reigning champions, attention has also turned to their immediate goal for round one setting the tone early.

“That’s the goal we’ve given the girls; to set the tone and send a message to the rest of the competition.

“Our focus, as always, is on the type of game we want to play built around our collision work and set piece.”

The match kicks off at 4pm tomorrow.
