FIJI Airways Drua has again made an impressive performance with a 57-31 win over Greater Sydney Rams in Sydney yesterday.
The win has helped the Fijian Drua reclaim the lead in the points standings for the second time this season. The Senirusi Seruvakula-coached team were sensational with an opening try from Joeli Veitayaki in the 14th minute and a successful conversion from the Apisalome Waqatabu to lead 7-0, rugby.com.au reported.
Waqatabu again successfully kicked a penalty to further extended the lead 10-0.
Captain John Stewart was instrumental as he led his boys with a try in the 28th minute and Waqatabu successfully converted it.
Apete Daveta scored a try in the 34th minute and Waqatabu added another two points to extend their lead 24-14 as the opposition scored two converted tries.
Rams scored another converted try to trail Drua 24-21 at halftime before scoring the first try of the second half to take the 26-24. Fiji came firing back with Daveta scoring his second try in the 52nd minute. Drua retained the lead 31-26.
Waqatabu scored a try and successfully converted.
Eroni Sau with some team fine passes scored a try in the 68th minute and Waqatabu failed to slot the ball across the bar.
Naitasiri half back Frank Lomani scored a try in the 72nd minute with Waqatabu’s magical kick.
Olympian Kitione Taliga scored the last try for Fiji in the 75th minute and Waqatabu made no mistake with the conversion to put the game to bed.
