MCDONALD’S Fiji Drua Women head coach Mike Legge says the side is ready to respond after a strong week of preparation ahead of their clash against Western Force at Churchill Park in Lautoka tomorrow at 2pm.

Legge revealed the squad went through a tough but positive review session earlier in the week, followed by two intense training runs that have lifted the group’s energy and focus.

“The girls had an honest and open review yesterday, followed by two brutal sessions on the field. The girls really responded well after our reviews. Probably one of our better sessions during this current seasoN,” Legge said.

“The girls are up for it. Definitely looking forward.”

Facing a physical Western Force outfit, Legge expects a forward-dominated battle, particularly in the contact areas.

“I think the Australian teams, they all play a pretty similar style. I think the Force, they have quite a heavy reliance on the forward pack, which is quite an experienced forward pack. Quite a rugged forward pack as well.

“So, we expect them to try and take us on through the middle and dominate in and around that area in the collision,” he added.

He added that the Drua have done their homework and identified ways to disrupt the visitors’ structure.

“We did our previews yesterday, which focused on those aspects of the Force game. We’ve come up with a couple of things that we feel can unsettle them. And then again, we’re hoping that that will translate into a positive result.”
