SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua fullback Vuate Karawalevu is expecting a fierce physical contest when they face the NSW Waratahs at Churchill Park, Lautoka on Saturday.
The powerful runner, who has been instrumental for the Drua this season, is under no illusions about the challenge ahead.
“We should expect a tough physical battle from them.
“They will come out firing and will try to look for a win here in Lautoka. They’re a physical team and they’ve got Wallabies in their side. So, we’re expecting a lot of physicality,” Karawalevu said.
Head coach Glen Jackson echoed the same sentiment and believed his side needs to be ready from the opening whistle, an area they’ve struggled with this season.
“Most games, we haven’t started well.
“That’s certainly a focus this week, starting strong at home in Lautoka.”
The Drua lost 20-43 to the Highlanders last weekend and are now desperate for a turnaround in front of their home fans to keep playoff hopes alive.
“There’s a bit of payback motivation.
“The boys haven’t forgotten that last Waratahs game in Sydney. We need to front up and show that we’re still in the fight,” Jackson added.
Despite injuries to key players like Frank Lomani, Meli Derenalagi, and Caleb Muntz, the Drua are confident in their depth and firepower.
