The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has declared all its installations “no-fly zones” for drones, warning that enforcement measures will be taken against unauthorised aerial activity.
In a statement, Chief of Staff Brigadier General Sapenafa Motufaga said the move is aimed at protecting military personnel, infrastructure and public safety.
“The unauthorized operation of drones over RFMF installations poses a potential risk to the safety and security of the RFMF,” he said.
The military has urged the public to comply with Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji regulations and avoid flying drones over restricted areas.
Brig-Gen Motufaga warned that the RFMF will deploy counter-drone measures to respond to any potential threats.
“The RFMF will execute counter drone measures to detect, deter and neutralize unauthorized aerial activity that may pose a security threat,” he said.
He added that the measures form part of ongoing efforts to safeguard national security and maintain public confidence.
The RFMF is also calling on drone operators to act responsibly and in accordance with the law.
