A 38-year-old man from Olosara, Sigatoka, is believed to be Fiji’s latest road fatality victim following a crash along Queens Road in Nayawa.

Police said the victim was allegedly driving along the highway when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer onto the opposite lane and collide with a minivan carrying 15 passengers.

The driver was rushed to Sigatoka Hospital, where medical officials confirmed his death.

Police confirmed two passengers travelling in the minivan remain admitted at Lautoka Hospital receiving treatment, while the remaining passengers were treated and later discharged.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are continuing.

The latest incident has pushed Fiji’s national road death toll to 18.
