The Fiji National University College of Nursing, Medicine and Health Sciences today celebrated World Bioethics Day.
While speaking at the event, FNU acting vice-chancellor Dr William May said it was imperative to value the significance of bioethics and its application in medical fields and life in general.
“Bioethics refers to the ethical implications and applications of the health-related life sciences,” Dr May said.
“I was told that it is also the first in the Pacific so it is a very good thing for the college to take ownership of this initiative of bioethics in health.”
Dr May said the theme for this year’s World Bioethics Day celebration was ‘Benefit and Harm’.
