Downpour triggers flash flooding

Heavy overnight downpour flooded parts of the Queens highway in Serua yesterday.

The heavy rain was caused by a low-pressure system hovering over the Eastern and Northern divisions. Low lying areas also experienced flash flooding.

In Navua, motorists were caught off guard by rising floodwaters at the Yarawa flats, Galoa, Wainadoi, Nacegacega Crossing at Nabukelevu Road, Waivunu and Nakorovou.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Services, heavy rain will affect the Northern Division, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Eastern parts of Viti Levu specifically Serua, Namosi, Suva, Nausori and Naitasiri today.
