IT will come down to the wire in the 100m races today in the 2024 Coca Cola Games at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
For the first time in the history of the Fiji Finals, the blur ribbon winners of the event will be determined today as opposed to the traditional practice of having it on Friday’s.
There could be some upsets witnessed considering the manual times registered by athletes in their respective zones.
In the boys’ division, Mariselo Moceituba of Holy Cross College clocked the best qualifying time of 10s.
Isimeli Tuvusa clocked a manual time of 10.12s and Semesa Caginivalu of Suva Grammar School with 10.13s.
It would be interesting to see the times these athletes clock today as the games record stand at 10.43s set by Banuve Tabakaucoro running for Marist Brother’s High School in 2011.
Looking at the girls’ division, the best qualifying time was stamped by Helen Naceba of Niusawa Methodist High School with 11.45s.
Jasper Williams High School athlete Sereima Rasovasova ran a time of 12.41s and Vatiseva Cavuru of Nadarivatu High School with 12.47s.
The winners will be determined today when the 100m finals commences at 3.45pm.
