Double tragedy for Nadi family as house destroyed by fire during mourning

A Nadi family is grappling with a double tragedy after their home was destroyed by fire while they were mourning the loss of a loved one.

The house, located along Tadra Road and owned by Pramit Shalendra Prasad, was occupied by him, his wife and their three sons.

It is understood a relative noticed flames in a rear room, prompting the family to quickly evacuate as the house filled with smoke.

The structure was built with corrugated iron roofing and walls, with wooden partitions and glass windows.

The home, which was not insured, was completely destroyed, with damage estimated at $120,000.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
