WEIGHTLIFTING Fiji vice president and the 2018 Fiji Sports Awards Paradise Beverages Technical Official of the year Della Shaw-Elder has asked the Levuka weightlifters that the doors to the association is always open for them.
Shaw has played a significant part of the sport in the development and exposure of the players to regional and overseas tournaments making a name for themselves and the country.
Shaw said despite the setback that hindered the association and the lifters in past two years, she will continue to welcome the athletes who still want to make their return to weightlifting Fiji despite the circumstances.
“ I would like to continue to encourage Levuka that the doors is still open for you, weightlifting Fiji is still waiting and if you wish to come on board, we are here waiting to accept you back with our process that you will follow,” said Shaw.
Upon receiving this award last weekend, Shaw also persuaded female athletes to try their best in everything they do.
“With women out there I encourage you with whatever backgrounds you from and whatever sport you play please go hard and try your best to get recognized,” she said.
“I want to thank my husband and my children especially the athletes and the club, without their support this would have been impossible.
