Two family dogs, Chiblin and Rose, are back in safe hands thanks to the swift action of their owners and the Navua Police.

According to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Fiji, the dogs were found injured, malnourished, and visibly shaken after a theft last week.

A resident had filmed the theft of the two dogs who were chained and dragged to a carrier,

Following a report from the dogs’ family, Navua Police were able to retrieve the animals, who are now receiving care and treatment at SPCA’s facilities.

“They are currently under our care for observation and treatment, and we are working to nurse them back to health,” SPCA Fiji said in a statement.

“Pet theft is a serious issue in Fiji,” the organisation said.

“Be vigilant and keep a close eye on your pets. If you suspect this is happening in your community, please contact SPCA Fiji or report it to your local police station. Do not wait until it is too late.”
