A SAVUSAVU student has missed out on school exams this week after she was attacked by a dog at Nukuloa settlement.

Retisha Sami, 7, a student of Khemendra Central School, was attacked while playing with friends outside her house on Monday afternoon.

Her mother, Saras Wati, said the dog bit her head causing injuries.

She also claimed the dog’s owner had asked her not to report the matter to police. “I’m just worried about my daughter’s condition,” she said.

“I took her to the hospital and they admitted her. We got discharged yesterday, (Tuesday) but I’m not sure whether the doctors have referred this matter to police. I could have lost my daughter and because of the dog attack, she is not able to sit for her exams this week.

“My daughter suffered injuries to her head and I hope it doesn’t affect her later in life.”

Ms Wati claimed parents in the area now feared for the safety of their children.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro did not respond to questions on the issue when this edition went to press last night.
