A seven-year-old boy had to undergo extensive surgery after he was brutally attacked by a dog along the Nasese sea wall on Sunday.
His father, Sanjay Sharma, said the dog had bitten his son’s scalp and left severe injuries to different parts of his body.
Mr Sharma said his son was playing along the sea wall when he was attacked by the dog.
“I really feel sorry for my son because of the injuries he sustained from the attack,” he said.
“We weren’t expecting anything like this to happen because the sea wall is a safe place for families to spend leisure time.”
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said police questioned the dog owner who claimed he had tethered the dog before leaving for church.
She said the dog owner did not know how the animal came loose and left their compound.
