The Online Safety Commission is calling on Fijians not to criticise the Fiji 7s team on social media platforms.

In a statement issued on its social media page, the Commission states while the semi final result may not have gone our way, the team’s dedication and effort on the field deserves support.

“Rugby is more than just a sport in Fiji—it’s a passion, a legacy, and a source of national pride,” said the Commission.

“But win or lose, our players and management are human too.”

“They train, sacrifice, and work hard to represent our country, and they also have families who see the words we share online.”

The Commission said online spaces have been filled with negative comments, hate speech, and cyberbullying.

“Let’s remember that our words have power—let’s use them to encourage, not tear down.”

“Our support should not depend on the scoreboard. Let’s show the world that Fiji stands together, in good times and tough times, with respect, kindness, and pride.”
