Former Solicitor-General (S-G) Sharvada Sharma’s application for judicial review, against the President of Fiji and the Judicial Services Commission, was called at the High Court in Suva yesterday.

The matter was called before Justice Deepthi Amaratunga.

He was represented by Munro Leys lawyer Jon Apted.

Lawyer for the defendants Devanesh Sharma indicated that an argument in opposition to the former S-G’s application would be made.

He asked for the President to be dropped as a party to the case and said the only proper party is the Judicial Services Commission.

Mr Apted said they did not agree with Mr Sharma’s submissions and would argue to the contrary at the hearing.

The defendants have been given 14 days to file an affidavit in opposition and the applicant 14 days thereafter to respond.

The matter will be called again for hearing on Friday, February 18.
