The Fiji Police Force has issued a strong warning that anyone attempting to undermine ongoing anti-drug operations will face legal consequences.

“Anyone with the intent of derailing efforts, whether external or internal, will face the consequences in accordance with the law,” the Joint Taskforce said in a statement.

Authorities stressed that the intensified crackdown on illicit drugs and criminal networks remains a top priority, and will not be disrupted by misinformation or conspiracy theories circulating on social media.

The statement raised concerns about persistent attempts to create division between security forces, describing such efforts as “highly questionable” at a time when operations are being escalated.

“Social media users are urged to take time to discern posts, to avoid being used by individuals advancing their agendas,” the taskforce said.

Police noted overwhelming public support for the joint operations, questioning why certain individuals were attempting to discredit the effort.

“There has been overwhelming support by the public… It should raise questions as to why, suddenly, certain individuals have been unrelenting in their drive to discredit and create disunity,” the statement added.

Authorities also warned social media administrators to take responsibility for content shared on their platforms, urging them to verify and filter posts before publication.

The Fiji Police Force reiterated that any complaints against officers should be formally reported to allow for proper investigation.
