MY family is deeply grateful for your running such a substantive feature on my late father.
We miss him terribly, but know that we were blessed to have been chosen by him to be his companions in this life.
It’s easy for the pioneers to be forgotten over course of a generation- and his story is a great reminder of what to many are likely remembered as Fiji’s “glory days” post-independence and a young nation being steered by Ratu Mara.
My father and others like him — I am thinking of Ruth Lechte, Amelia Rokotuivuna, Suliana Siwatibau, Eloni Goneyali and many more — really helped shape the direction of Fiji and we are all beneficiaries of the vision and courage of these people.
It’s a terrific reminder of what one person — him, you, me — can do with one life.
