Delta Tigers work on defence

The Rewa football team is focusing on tightening their defense as they prepare to take on Ba football in their first match of the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT, which kicks off on Friday.

The Delta Tigers are considered one of the favorites for the competition.

This as they boast a mix of experienced players ready to showcase their skills on the field.

Head coach Rodicks Singh expressed that preparations are going well, with a focus on basic skills and shoring up their defensive structure.

The team is aware of the strong competition in their pool, especially their first match against Ba, a formidable opponent.

“Preparation is going well. we are working on the very basic and also tightening our defense,” said Singh.

“Looking at our pool, it is a very strong pool, playing our first match against Ba, will be a different ball game altogether, they are a good side, and we need to be on top of our game when we play them.”

Singh adds despite facing challenges with weather conditions, the team has managed to train effectively and keep the players fit.

“The weather conditions have become a challenge for us so far, but we still manage to find a way for us to train and get the boys fit.

“We have no injuries in the team we are full set for the competition.”

Singh urged supporters to come out in numbers and show their support for the team during the tournament.

Rewa is in Group A and will compete against defending champions Lautoka, Navua, and traditional powerhouse Ba.

Group B features league leaders Labasa, Nadroga, Nadi, and tournament hosts Suva.

The stakes are high, with the winners set to receive $17,000, the runners-up $5,000, and losing semi-finalists $2,500.

The tournament will take place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva from May 30 to June 1 for the group stages, with the semi-finals and final scheduled for June 7-8.
