Delta Tigers claw way to league victory

Rewa clawed their way back to beat Tavua 4-2 in their Extra Premier League match at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

Despite Tavua taking a 1-0 lead in the second half, the Delta Tigers showcased their determination and fought back strongly to secure the win and deny the visitors a win on their home turf.

Head coach Rodicks Singh expressed gratitude for the team’s performance and credited their efforts in achieving the target of securing three crucial points in the match.

“I like to the thank the Lord almighty for the win. The boys did well. Our target of getting the three points we achieved it,” said Singh.

Reflecting on the tough encounter against Tavua, Singh acknowledged the need for improvements in pace and defence.

“It was a tough match. Tavua came to play, in the first half we dropped our pace, we were very slow, during second half we talked about keeping the pace up, and our defence strategies and that’s what got us the win.

“We missed two penalties, and we got Tavua scored two points, we have a few things to work on before the Fiji FACT competition.”
