Defending champions Rewa Masters started their campaign in the over 45s grade of the 2025 RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings Veterans Tournament with a dominant 6-0 victory over Lami Veterans.

The match, held at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa, showcased the team’s prowess as they left no mercy on their opponents.

Led by well-known player Pita Rabo, who scored three goals, and supported by Taitusi Tuivua and Jolame Nokonokomoli, Rewa Masters displayed an impressive performance in both the first and second halfs.

Head coach and president Subhash Chand expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparation for the tournament, emphasising the importance of fitness and practice leading up to the event.

“We really prepared for this competition because we are champions last year and our 40s was runners up last year,” said Chand.

“Our training also come right up to Uprising grounds, just to have a go at it in the field as we need to be fit.”

Despite their convincing win, Chand acknowledged areas for improvement, particularly in controlling the backline and capitalising on missed opportunities.

“The team did well, we can see that we missed a lot of chances we could have scored more goals, missed opportunity in the second half but we are looking forward for our next match.

“In our next match we need to control our back line, few on defence other than that we ready for the match.

“Both team in our pool are good, don’t want to keep our hopes high but we will take the match one game at a time and work through.”

Chand also extended an invitation to fans to support the team in their upcoming matches, including the semi-final between the main Rewa team and Suva in the 2025 Fiji Fact.

Rewa Masters will take on Suva Legends at 11am today.

Meanwhile, in the BiC Fiji FACT semi-finals at the HFC Bank Stadium tomorrow, Labasa plays Lautoka at 2pm while Suva takes on Rewa at 4.30pm.
