THE Co-Counsel of drug accussed Justin Ho, had called in sick during today’s proceedings of the 4.15 methamphetamine drug trial at the High Court in Lautoka.
Mr Ho was represented in court yesterday by Samuela Heritage of Iqbal Khan & Associates.
He was also represented in the earlier court proceedings of the 4.15 methamphetamine drug trial by Iqbal Khan.
Neither, Mr Heritage nor Mr Khan had showed up this morning in court.
During the statement of evidence from the second witness, Police Inspector Simione Ravouvou, an application was served before Justice Aruna Aluthge, asking for an adjournment of today’s court proceedings to next week Monday, as Mr Samuela Heritage was sick.
Justice Aluthge questioned why there was no letter received in the morning.
He further adds “Who want me to believe this letter now”?
Justice Aluthge continued with the court proceedings and told drug accused, Justin Ho that he had the right to cross examine, as he was going to represent himself in court without lawyers.
For the fairness of the trial, a copy of today’s court proceedings would be given to the counsel representing Justin Ho.
Investigating officer responsible for the shipment of drugs to Suva,Josua Vosaki who is the acting assistant superintendent based at the CID headquarters in Toorak, Suva was the first witness called in this morning to give evidence.
The ground commander of the drug operation, Police Inspector Simione Ravouvou also testified to the evidence produced in court.
Other key witnesses are expected to take the stand next week Tuesday.
The trial has been adjourned to June 24.
