BOXER Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana will face one of the toughest tests of his professional career when he takes on Brisbane’s highly regarded rising contender Yungubaddi Yanner for the Australasian Welterweight Title in Hamilton, Queensland this Saturday.
The title presents a major opportunity for Daunivavana to claim regional honours and further elevate Fiji’s presence on the international boxing stage.
Daunivavana heads into the bout with considerable experience, having built a reputation as one of Fiji’s most active and resilient professional fighters.
Throughout his career, he has faced several quality opponents and has consistently shown a willingness to take on difficult challenges.
Among his notable performances are victories over experienced boxers Ronald Naidu and Sireli Navua. Daunivavana also demonstrated his knockout power with a second-round technical knockout win over Masitogi Rokotuva, proving he can finish fights when opportunities arise.
His combination of experience, toughness and ring awareness is expected to be key against Yanner, who is regarded as one of Australia’s emerging prospects in the welterweight division.
Daunivavana’s preparation has focused heavily on fitness, speed and executing a disciplined game plan.
His camp believes those factors will play an important role against a younger opponent who is expected to use his speed and aggressive style throughout the contest.
Head coach Osea Nanovu remains confident that Daunivavana remains confident that Rakuro has done the necessary work to emerge victorious.
“Rakuro will win the title,” Nanovu said.
Daunivavana is equally confident ahead of the championship bout and believes the preparation his team has put in will pay off in his fight.
According to a video shared on the team’s Facebook story, Daunivavana expressed confidence in his preparation ahead of the title bout.
“We have come prepared,” Daunivavana said.
