Damuni feels for his friends back in Fiji

SEVENTEEN-year-old Dayson Damuni feels for the needy.

The Mokani lad,who now resides in Hawaii, gave 300 rugby boots to students of Marist Brothers High School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, John Wesley College, Latter Day Saints Church College and Nabua Secondary School yesterday.

LDS College then organised a 7s tournament in which the five schools competed to coincide with the handover ceremony.

Damuni collected the boots from friends after the American Football season.

“After one American Football season, most of my friends usually throw their boots away so I thought I might collect them and bring them to my friends here in Fiji,” Damuni said.

“Some of the boots are brand new and some are used ones.”

He said Fijians were fond of rugby and felt his assistance would be of value to high school students.

LDS College principal Michael Carthew acknowledged the Damuni family for its generosity.
